PRIVACY POLICY
BIRDWATCH IRELAND WEST CORK BRANCH (‘THE BRANCH”)
This Privacy Policy is effective from 25th May 2018.
Data Protection Officer
Our Data Protection Officer oversees how we collect, use, share and protect your information to ensure that your rights are fulfilled. You can contact our Data Protection Officer at mailinglist@birdwatchirelandwestcork.ie.
How the Branch collects information about you and consent
There are only two methods used by the Branch to collect personal information from you:
- The Branch receives an email from your email address asking to be added to the Mailing List;
- You complete our paper form at a Branch outing or event. Your information is then transferred to our e-mailing list and the paper form is destroyed.
On receipt of your request to join our e-mailing list, by either collection method, the Branch will send you an email asking you to confirm your consent.
The information held by the Branch
We hold the following personal information: name, email address; and telephone number (if supplied).
How the Branch uses this information
The Branch uses your personal information to contact you by email to provide the following:
- The Branch’s quarterly programme of events;
- A reminder prior to each event;
- Advance information on any other Branch outings not in the programme;
- Information relevant to the objectives of BirdWatch Ireland. Wherever possible we combine this with one of our standard emails to keep emails to a minimum
Occasionally the Branch may contact you by ‘phone or email in relation to an event or meeting or in relation to a historical enquiry.
Your personal information will only be available to the Officers of the Branch for the above reasons and will not be passed on to any third party without your permission.
Ways that you can access, update or delete your personal information:
You may enquire about, correct, update or delete your personal information, held by the Branch, at any time by emailing mailinglist@birdwatchirelandwestcork.ie.
Length of time that the Data is retained by the Branch
Your personal information will be retained until the Branch receives a request from the e-subscriber to unsubscribe from our e-mailing list. On receipt of such a request the Branch will delete all your personal information.
Data security
Your personal information is kept in electronic format on a secure server. The Branch seeks to use reasonable organisational, technical and administrative measures to protect information held from loss, misuse, unauthorised access or disclosure, alteration and/or destruction. Unfortunately, no data transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. If you have reason to believe that your interaction with the Branch is no longer secure, please notify us immediately at mailinglist@birdwatchirelandwestcork.ie.
Policy on photographs?
Occasionally, group photographs may be taken during events organised by the Branch If you do not wish your photograph to be placed on our website or Facebook Page; or, if you do not wish your photograph to be taken at all, please inform the event’s organiser or the photographer on the day.
Changes in our Privacy Policy:
We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. If we decide to change our Privacy Policy, we will notify you by email, or by means of a notice on our home page.
